University of Essex Online receives CPD accreditation

University of Essex Online today announces the CPD accreditation of four Certificate of Continuing Education courses.

These courses can now be used towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points whilst improving skills and career targets. CPD describes the learning activities that professionals undertake to develop and improve their skills. It enables employers to ensure that staff learning is conscious and proactive. Engaging in CPD guarantees that both academic and practical abilities do not become obsolete, allowing individuals to continually develop regardless of job role, age or educational level.

Four undergraduate certificate courses offered by University of Essex Online are now accredited by the United Kingdom CPD Certification Service, and may be applicable to individuals who are members of, or are associated with, UK-based professional bodies. These courses include the CertCE Business Studies, CertCE Psychology, CertCE Law and CertCE Criminology and Criminal Justice. Each 15-credit module on the course has an estimated 100 hours of learning, which is equivalent to 100 CPD points.

David Dixon, Academic Director, said: “We are delighted that these four programmes are now accredited by the UK CPD Certification Service. All of our online and part-time courses have been created by industry experts, and we are extremely pleased that students wishing to develop their transferable workplace skills will now have the opportunity to benefit from this knowledge. These 8-month courses have also been designed specifically for those wishing to quickly refresh and update their professional skills in a short period of time. And while they are recognised as a stand-alone qualification, they are also the first stage towards a full Bachelors degree qualification.”

The next intake for these courses is in February 2018, with many more at regular intervals throughout the year.

Students at University of Essex Online study entirely online using a virtual learning platform, receiving high-quality resources and support from experienced tutors. This allows students around the world to discuss and debate key issues within their disciplines, discover specialised areas/or applications of theories and build working and social relationships with classmates.
