In results released today, University of Essex Online has achieved a score of 93% for overall student satisfaction in the 2017 National Student Survey (NSS). This is significantly higher than the sector average of 85% for part-time and 84% for full-time providers for higher education institutions in England.

The National Student Survey (NSS) is a high-profile questionnaire and was completed by final-year UK undergraduate students in 2017.The survey is independently conducted on behalf of HEFCE (the Higher Education Funding Council for England) and gives students the opportunity to share their experiences about their course and institution.

In addition to the overall satisfaction score of 93%, the University of Essex Online has achieved above average results in a number of key areas. These include “Teaching on my course”, where University of Essex Online received a score of 91% compared to the sector average for part-time and full-time of 85%. This section asked students to give their feedback on how good staff are at explaining things, whether staff made the subject interesting, whether the course is intellectually stimulating and whether students were challenged to achieve their best work.

This section required students to respond to questions asking if their course has provided them with opportunities to explore ideas or concepts in depth, bring information and ideas together from different topics and to apply what they have learnt.
