July 2023 marked a huge milestone for many students, as they finally became graduates of the University of Essex Online.
The ceremony was held at the University of Essex’s stunning Colchester campus, where our students’ met peers from across the globe. Drinks were poured and canapes shared throughout the afternoon, and we spent the day celebrating many well-earned achievements.

Alan Jenkins Memorial Award winner
Each year, we present the Alan Jenkins Memorial Award to the student we feel has the most inspirational study experience story. This year, the award was presented by Managing Director, Nicola Pittman, to deserving winner Nicola Harteveld. We wish Nicola all the very for the future. Congratulations!
Virtual graduation celebrations
As we’re an online university, there were many students who couldn’t be with us for the in-person ceremony. That’s why we put together an event to celebrate our graduates’ achievements across the world. The online ceremony, open to all 2023 graduates, took place on Zoom on 11 August at 12:00 BST.
The celebration featured a live welcome from our Academic Director David Dixon. Graduates had the opportunity to chat amongst themselves in subject-focused breakout rooms, as well as smaller chat sessions with the Student Advisers that supported them throughout their studies.
