We recognise that finding the ‘right’ course and starting an application can be a daunting prospect.

From entry requirements to funding options and flexibility, it may seem hard to know where to begin. But fear not – in this blog post, we outline the admissions process from enquiry to enrolment, in just five simple steps! We’re proud to offer high quality, 100% online, part-time courses across a range of subject areas, with multiple intakes. Read on to find out about the application process and how it works.

Visit the application page

Once you’ve decided that the University of Essex Online is for you – and you’ve found the ideal course – head to the application page. Here, you’ll be presented with our simple online application form, which includes all the usual details that need to be filled in, such as your name, email, address and contact preferences.

Add your funding details

We’ll need to know a little bit about how you intend to fund your studies. Whether you plan to self-fund, or use a tuition fee loan, scholarship or discount, this is the part where you can specify these details. Find out if you’re eligible for any financial support from the University of Essex Online, on our discounts and scholarships page.

Relevant education and work experience

We believe education should be accessible for all and take into account both academic and work-based experience when considering your application. In this section, you can add relevant work experience and your education history. You’ll also be asked to upload supporting documentation including your CV, educational certificates and a form of ID.

Create a personal statement

Finally, we ask for 100-200 words that make up your personal statement to help us assess your suitability for the course. This includes the following:

  • why you’ve chosen the course and wish to study online
  • relevant skills and experience with the subject
  • how you plan to use the qualification in the future

Struggling to write this section? Reach out to our dedicated team of Admissions Advisers who will be happy to provide extra support and guidance.

Submit your application

Do a final check over the information you’ve provided and confirm that it’s true, complete and accurate. You’re now ready to click ‘submit form’ and … that’s it!

Your application will be passed to an Admissions Adviser, followed by an Admissions Manager to assess your application. You’ll then receive your formal letter and acceptance form, as well as your payment and study plans where applicable. Our Admissions Advisers will offer a range of alternative pathways if you’re unsuccessful.
