We are proud to be celebrating our 15 year anniversary this month. Since April 2007, Kaplan Open Learning has been working in partnership with the University of Essex to deliver high-quality online courses for University of Essex Online.
We now have students studying with us from more than 140 countries worldwide and we’ve transformed the lives and careers of over 5,000 alumni.
We offer over 80 industry-led and career-enhancing undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a wide range of subjects, including business, computing, criminology, education, health, law and psychology.
Our courses are delivered through an interactive and collaborative learning environment which utilises state-of-the-art technology. This enables students to study anytime and anywhere in the world to combine their professional development ambitions with their busy work and family life. After completing their studies, students are invited to attend a graduation ceremony at the University of Essex Colchester campus.
We consistently achieve high student satisfaction ratings. We achieved an incredible score of 95% for overall student satisfaction in the National Student Survey (NSS 2021) placing us top for overall student satisfaction when compared to UK universities, well above the national average of 75%.
Additionally, we recently won the Best Online Classroom Experience Award at the Global Student Satisfaction Awards (GSSA 2021) delivered by Studyportals in collaboration with the British Council, IELTS and Unibuddy.
Both the University of Essex and Kaplan Open Learning are proud that the University of Essex Online partnership has reached its anniversary milestone of 15 years.
Annecy Lax, Dean of Partnerships at the University of Essex, said:
“We are thrilled to celebrate our 15th anniversary! The University of Essex Online has provided a transformational opportunity for so many students of diverse backgrounds. Offering accessible study, it has broken down barriers for a range of learners and allowed them to thrive in their chosen fields. Through sector-leading online learning, the University of Essex Online has brought together international students to learn together, share ideas and foster global links.”
Nicola Pittman, Managing Director at Kaplan Open Learning, said:
“Right from the start, our goal has always been to deliver a high-quality online provision. Our aim was to reshape the traditional distance learning approach where you’re given a textbook and expected to self-study. We wanted to create a learning environment that was different to face-to-face but just as good, with the same opportunities to build international networks with like-minded peers. We have dedicated student support teams to mentor and provide guidance throughout the student journey, and we’ve also developed new and innovative ways to study online, which are interactive and motivate students to complete. This is why we now have over 5,000 alumni.”
We plan to launch a range of new programmes over the next five years and we are committed to continuing to enhance our forward-thinking approach to online learning and being at the forefront of the technology that provides the best online study experience.
