We pride ourselves on our business courses – they were among the first courses we offered when we began delivering online programmes back in 2007. For over a decade, we have delivered top quality courses to those looking to succeed in a range of roles across the business world, from our comprehensive Bachelors degrees to our MBM.

And now we are adding two new specialist Masters degrees to the mix: an MSc Global Digital Marketing and an MSc International Human Resource Management.

MSc Global Digital Marketing

For a business to succeed in the modern world, you need to have a mastery over the varied digital channels you can use to promote it. These channels are fast-paced and rely on data, so marketers need to be able to analyse this information effectively and make decisions based on the results.

This course is designed to both instil knowledge about these methods of promotion, as well as develop the crucial skills to succeed in a marketing career anywhere in the world.

You will study modules such as Marketing in a Global Economy, Consumer Behaviour in the Digital Age and Strategic Online Marketing Management. Towards the end of your studies you will complete a Management Report on a topic of your choice within the marketing mix.

MSc International Human Resource Management

Our new HR course considers the important relationship between the employee and the employer along all stages of their association – not just hiring and firing, but also leadership development and talent management. It also considers the increasing globalisation of the workforce, and you will develop skills that are transferable, not just across different roles and industries, but also across borders.

The modules you study include Mentoring and Coaching for Organisational Effectiveness, Diversity Management in a Global Economy and Strategic Human Resource Development. Assessments are tailored towards the skills you will need to succeed in HR roles, such as interview techniques and coaching methods.

Looking for a shorter course?

As well as our full Masters degrees, with an indicative duration of 24 months, we offer shorter PG Cert and PG Dip courses for both our new programmes. With an indicative study duration of 8 months and 16 months respectively, our online short courses are designed as impressive standalone qualifications, which contribute to your continuing professional development and allow you to update your skills and knowledge.

It’s also easy to progress from one of these courses onto the full Masters on completion of your degree, giving you increased flexibility right from the start of your studies.

What’s studying online like?

Our new programmes, like the rest of our courses, are delivered 100% online and part-time. You will interact with study materials through our cutting edge Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which hosts multimedia lecturecasts, engaging discussion forums, a comprehensive eLibrary and other study resources.

You will be supported throughout your studies by a dedicated Student Support Team, as well as our knowledgeable module tutors who hold regular live Q&A sessions to guide you through the material. There will be plenty of opportunity to collaborate with your classmates – fellow professionals based around the world.

Why study with University of Essex Online?

We have a long track record of success in delivering online business courses. We achieved excellence for teaching, learning and academic support in the 2023 National Student Survey.

You’ll receive a certificate from the University of Essex, placed in the top 40 UK universities (Complete University Guide 2024).

Although you will be studying 100% online, after you complete the course you will be invited to attend graduation at the University of Essex Colchester campus. This is a fantastic day of celebration to commemorate your outstanding achievement.

What are the entry requirements?

We know that people from a range of backgrounds will succeed on our courses, which is why we offer two entry routes that take into account your prior education and work experience. All applications are considered on an individual basis.

To meet the requirements of our academic entry route, you will need an undergraduate degree equivalent to a UK Honours degree from an approved institution. We will also consider applicants with a relevant professional qualification.

For our work experience entry route, you must have a minimum of three years’ work experience in a role relevant to the programme you are applying for.

Since our courses are delivered in English, you will also need to meet our minimum requirements for English language. If English isn’t your first language, you will need an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5. If you don’t hold an IELTS or equivalent qualification, don’t worry – we will just need you to take a free online English test to allow us to assess your proficiency.

What are the fees?

We offer a range of payment plans, discounts and scholarships to help you cover the cost of your studies. Students based in England may be eligible for a postgraduate student loan. If you choose to fund the course yourself, you can pay through our simple monthly payment plan, or if you pay upfront you will receive a 10% full payment discount.

We also offer an alumni discount for graduates of the University of Essex or University of Essex Online, as well as a 10% international scholarship for students living outside Europe.
