We’re delighted to announce that the University of Essex Online has been rated Gold in the Times Higher Education (THE) Online Learning Rankings 2024. For the first time, THE has launched a ranking system to measure online learning on a global basis. In this blog post, we take a deep dive into how the rankings work.
What are the THE’s Online Learning Rankings?
The Times Higher Education (THE) Online Learning Rankings assess the teaching excellence of online courses. The league table reflects global online learning rankings and has three categories: gold, silver and bronze. We’ve been assessed on four pillars, which include 17 different metrics. The four pillars consider key areas of online learning that include:
- Resource: the level of resources dedicated to online learning
- Engagement: the level of student engagement in online learning
- Outcomes: the outcomes for students participating in online learning
- Environment: the environment in which the online learning takes place
Resource
