The University of Essex Online has gained a superb score of 88% for overall student satisfaction in the 2022 National Student Survey (NSS).
Reflecting on this year’s results, David Dixon, Academic Director, concluded:
“These results reflect our commitment to quality online education, which is accessible to all and delivered in a collaborative learning environment.
With 88% of students satisfied with their overall course quality, the hard work and outstanding commitment from university staff over the last year and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic is clear to see.
We’re particularly delighted to achieve fantastic results for student satisfaction across our law, and business and management courses.
As we move forward, our hope is for the University of Essex Online to continue to make a difference in transforming lives with the 80 industry-led undergraduate and postgraduate courses on offer.”
How does the NSS work?
The annual National Student Survey is held every year to gain honest student feedback across the UK’s further and higher education sectors. The published results help prospective students make well-informed decisions about which courses to choose and where to study.
We’d like to thank all our University of Essex Online students who took the time to participate in the 2022 National Student Survey (NSS).
At subject level, the University of Essex Online’s law courses gained an incredible 90% for overall student satisfaction, while our cutting-edge business and management courses achieved a huge 95% rating. Students were also satisfied with other areas of learning:
- 93% agreed that their course is intellectually stimulating
- 87.5% agreed they have had the right opportunities to provide feedback on their course; significantly above the 71.65% benchmark
- 82% agreed that feedback on assignments has been timely
Notable year-on-year increases
Results from business and management students revealed a year on year rise compared to 2021 ratings, particularly in:
- a feeling of community between staff and students (+ 20%)
- the right opportunities to connect with others on the same course (+ 13%)
Results from law students also showed positive year on year increases in the following areas:
- library resources have supported learning well (+ 18%)
- the right opportunities to connect with others on the same course (+ 19%)
This is thanks to the hard work and effort of all our staff, who remain committed to supporting our students at all times.
