The support from tutors and the student services team has been incredible.

I’m originally from South Africa, but I currently live in the United Arab Emirates. After high school, my parents encouraged me to travel before starting university and I explored the Middle East, Europe and South Asia. Those experiences shaped who I am today.

When it was time to start my academic journey, I knew I wanted a course that offered the same sense of freedom to travel, spend time with loved ones and give back through volunteering. The University of Essex Online offered exactly that – a flexible and high-quality education that fits perfectly with my lifestyle.

The Admissions and Student Support teams made my experience exceptional from the very beginning. They patiently answered all my questions, guided me through each step of the application process and made me feel completely supported. The adviser who assisted me was kind and approachable, making the entire process smooth and stress-free.

I chose to study law with a UK university, not just for its prestige but for the depth and rigor of the course. Throughout my studies, I’ve explored a wide range of case law, engaged in thought-provoking discussions, completed challenging assignments and even participated in moot court sessions. The assignments can be challenging at times but incredibly rewarding. The professors are knowledgeable and the lectures and materials are insightful.

I’m especially grateful for the flexibility of online learning. Its allowed me to continue my studies while also being present for my mother, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. This experience has reminded me how valuable it is to have an education model that adapts to your life, not the other way around.

Studying with the University of Essex Online has been one of the best decisions I’ve made, allowing me to grow academically while staying connected to what matters most.

I wanted a degree in law, and I wanted a first class Bachelors and I wanted to achieve it in 3 years, and no campus-based course would have allowed me to work at my own pace to achieve just that.
