I’m able to balance my work and study commitments effectively, while gaining insights from fellow students and tutors around the world. This has broadened my perspective on global project management practices.

When I chose to study the MSc Project Management, I was driven by the need to enhance my ability to manage complex projects and lead teams more effectively. Having previously worked as a project manager, I recognised a deeper understanding of project management principles, methodologies and tools would help me navigate the increasingly complex and fast-paced world of telecommunications. As I advance in my current role as Senior Policy Analyst at the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA), I’m keen to develop the necessary skills to optimise resources and achieve better results.

Choosing the University of Essex Online was an easy decision – due to its reputation for offering high-quality online degrees, flexible tuition fee payments and part-time study that fits around professional and personal commitments. The virtual learning environment (VLE) allows me to study from anywhere while maintaining my full-time job. This flexibility is crucial as I can apply what I’ve learned in real-time, enriching my understanding of project management while working on policy-related tasks.

The course offers a comprehensive curriculum that not only covers traditional project management principles but also delves into modern, agile techniques, which are essential in today’s fast-evolving industries. I’m particularly impressed with the emphasis on leadership, risk management and strategic planning, which directly aligns with my goals as both a project manager and policy analyst.

The ability to access course materials, participate in discussions and complete assignments at my own pace is a great benefit. What’s more, the interactive nature of the VLE and group discussions help me stay engaged and motivated.

I’m confident the skills I’ll gain from this course will be invaluable in my professional future. I aim to leverage them to drive projects that support national digital infrastructure development, improve cybersecurity frameworks and facilitate international collaborations in the technology and policy sectors.

Ultimately, the knowledge and experience I’ll have developed upon completion of the course will empower me to become a more effective leader and a strategic asset in my field.

Working full time and studying online is the only option that allows you to flawlessly pursue all your career goals and study in the meantime, not being tied to one place and scheduled classes.

I started my studies in 2012 and all was going smoothly in my career and with my education until 2015, when I discovered that I had a tumour.
