I’m studying to push myself further.

I’ve been a qualified registered general nurse since 2010, working across various healthcare settings, and became an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (IPCN) in 2018. While in this role, I decided to become a specialist in my field and began looking into studying a Master’s degree.

The decision to study at the Master’s level wasn’t easy, as I’d be juggling my course with working full-time, being a mum, and running my own part-time business. However, I realised the course would be hugely beneficial to both my personal and professional development. In fact, when I started a new role in 2021, I was encouraged to pursue a Master’s degree!

During my research, I found that only a few universities offered MSc Infection Control for online study. I chose to study with the University of Essex Online due to the course content, employability prospects, flexible start dates, and the positive feedback I received from alumni. My Admissions Adviser was brilliant and guided me through the application process, answering all my questions along the way.

Since starting my course, I’ve found online learning incredibly convenient. Lectures are usually held in the evenings, which fits well with my schedule, and if I do miss a session, I can access recorded lectures 24/7 via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Tutors are also very supportive and readily available to answer questions about coursework or the program in general.

The University of Essex Online truly cares about its students, offering constant support via phone or email. I cannot recommend the University enough to my friends and family!

I wanted a degree in law, and I wanted a first class Bachelors and I wanted to achieve it in 3 years, and no campus-based course would have allowed me to work at my own pace to achieve just that.

I set out to earn a living instead of studying, but despite this choice I always wanted to fulfil my ambition to have a qualification.

I have the flexibility to learn around my schedule and from anywhere in the world. This allowed me to secure a full-time job as a teacher while tutoring part-time.
