Were delighted to announce the launch of our latest postgraduate course,MSc Enterprise IT Management.

Our MSc Enterprise IT Management helps you develop the skills you need to protect your business against cyber-attack – while making it more digital. And by studying online, you’ll have the opportunity to share your knowledge with students all over the world.

What will I study on the MSc Enterprise IT Management?

Our modules are measured against the new EITBOK, which is backed by the Association for Computing Machinery, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

You’ll gain technical expertise around concepts such as cloud computing, cyber security and data science, with modules including:

  • Security and Risk Management
  • Enterprise IT Project Management
  • Cloud Design and Management
  • Information Technology Service Management (ITSM)

During the final year, you’ll have the opportunity to conduct your own research project on a topic of interest relevant to the course.

Where can the course take me?

The MSc Enterprise IT Management provides vast opportunities for those wishing to excel in an IT role. On successful completion, you’ll be ready to take on exciting roles – including as an engineer or administrator in digital transformation, cloud solutions or DevOps. Alternatively, you could become a project manager or analyst.

Looking for a shorter course?

The indicative study duration of our MSc Enterprise IT Management is two years. If you’re looking for a course which is a bit shorter, we’ve also launched the PG Dip Enterprise IT Management and  PG Cert Enterprise IT Management, which have an indicative study duration of 16 months and 8 months respectively. Both shorter courses are respected standalone qualifications and they can also be used as a stepping stone towards the full Masters degree.

What’s studying online like?

Our MSc Enterprise IT Management course is delivered 100% online and part-time. You’ll have the freedom to study when and where it suits you – at home, during your lunch hour or in the evenings. You’ll access your studies via our state-of-the-art virtual learning environment (VLE), which includes multimedia lecturecasts, an eLibrary, discussion forums and the portal for you to submit your assignments.

Our dedicated Student Support team is there to support you throughout your studies, and you’ll receive subject-specific support from your module tutors through live workshops and virtual office hours. What’s more, class sizes are capped at 20 students to guarantee dedicated tutor support.

Why choose Essex Online?

Did you also know we achieved excellence for teaching, learning and academic support in the 2023 National Student Survey? And upon successful completion of your course, you’ll be awarded a certificate from the University of Essex, ranked in the top 40 UK universities (Complete University Guide 2023).

What are the entry requirements?

We ensure education is accessible to everyone, which is why we offer two different entry routes. Additionally, you’ll need to pass your first assignment set within the two-week induction period of the course to continue with your studies.

To meet the academic entry route, you’ll need an undergraduate degree from an approved institution, equivalent to a UK Honours degree, or a relevant professional qualification. Or for the work experience entry route, we ask for at least three years’ relevant IT or computer science work experience.

You’ll also need to meet our minimum English language requirements, equivalent to an IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5. Don’t worry if you don’t have IELTS – you will just need to complete our free English test to prove your proficiency.
