The biggest challenge is also the biggest advantage.

Personally, I find the biggest challenge in online learning is at the beginning when you have to find your own way of studying. That could involve studying on your way to work, during the evening or maybe at night when everyone at home is asleep.

You have to learn how to be disciplined, as there’s no one telling you to study each day. The deadline is there and you have to be ready. Tutors helped me to learn how to manage my time and the support staff were always there if I needed them. The first few months were probably the most challenging, but the further along I was in the course, the more I knew how to overcome any issues and where to look for answers.

The main reason I chose the University of Essex Online was flexibility. Working full time and studying online is the only option that allows you to flawlessly pursue all your career goals and study in the meantime, not being tied to one place and scheduled classes.

I met some great people and received quality support from the tutors. Flexibility gives tremendous possibilities, but of course it doesn’t come without sacrifice. Like any studying, it requires a lot of time and effort, but most importantly I was in charge of when to study. I apply everything that I’ve learnt on a daily basis as it’s extremely useful in my day-to-day life. I’m also considering continuing my studies in the future.

The graduation ceremony was a fantastic moment to celebrate the effort we all made throughout the last few years. It was also a great opportunity to finally meet the other students and tutors face-to-face.

I wanted a degree in law, and I wanted a first class Bachelors and I wanted to achieve it in 3 years, and no campus-based course would have allowed me to work at my own pace to achieve just that.
